Happy March! The fun is over and it's time to get to WORK 🤪😝😄

Wintertime is our downtime, and while there is always plenty to do - plan and conceptualize for the new year, order seeds, maintain and fix equipment, work on orders, take care of the furry critters... we all get a little more time to relax and reflect.

Due to the nature and seasons of our work, our favorite past times revolve around the snow - snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing... you get the picture. ❄❄

We are thankful for the family time we had together! ❤

Now it's time to get back in the dirt and get 2021 started 💪🌱🌞🚜

Stay tuned for an upcoming post about our new seeder! We'll show you the process of seeding our cold weather crops (ettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, beets, Swiss chard, and kale) as well as our long season crops (peppers, eggplant, etc.).

New this year 🎉 we're extending our CSA by 4 weeks to bring you the best, most nutritious homegrown produce that October has to offer! 🎃

CSA is a weekly subscription share/box picked up from our farm in Wyckoff, NJ. All produce is seasonal, meaning you're eating locally and as nature intended! There is a season for all fruits and veggies - and once you taste an item in the height of it's season, your life and health will change for the better.

It's our goal to guide you through this CSA journey by cultivating a relationship between the farmer (us) and the consumer (you), providing education about our farm, and sharing amazing recipes, tips, and tricks for every item you receive.

All produce is picked from our fields the morning of your pickup (fun fact: grocery store produce has been in transport for days before you bring it home!) Sometimes we pair up with other local farmer friends to provide you produce we can't grow, like peaches, blueberries, and apples. 🍎

Returning members: you will receive a gift card at your first pickup 🎁

Cantaloupe is a refreshing and healthy Summer snack (we're daydreaming about Summer over here) that is full of antioxidants including beta carotene, Vitamin A, lutein, zeaxanthin (together with lutein, plays a protective role in eye health), choline, and selenium. The fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and choline in cantaloupe all support heart health and promote a healthy digestive tract. We can't wait for our Cantaloupe crop this Summer!

One of the things I love about our CSA program is seeing what our members make every day with our homegrown food. From beets and basil to sweet corn and watermelon (and everything in-between), our members make and share delicious meals, recipes, and ideas in our CSA community through our private Facebook group. Abma’s Farm Summer Camp utilizes our own greenhouses and vegetable fields to provide an exciting and educational experience for kids. Camp activites include: gardening, farming, learning about animals, and experiencing how our environment works. 🐮🌱🍅🔎🔬🤸🐐⁠

We put a fun spin on education, making sure all children enjoy their summer while gaining valuable knowledge about the outdoors. Children learn hands-on at our camp garden, gain practical knowledge and skills, and create new lasting friendships with other children!⁠

Summer Camp is for ages 5-10 and runs weekly, Monday-Friday, from 9am-3pm.⁠
